Angela West – National Program Lead – Tourism & Community Service Bureau of Land Management
Angela has worked for over 35 years in the field of natural and heritage resource management as a manager, program director, wilderness and outdoor recreation specialist, marketer, and National Travel and Tourism Program Manager for the Bureau of Land Management. Angela’s experience spans the Federal Government, private industry, Tribes, and the non-profit sector. Her work includes an emphasis on building intergovernmental and interagency cooperation and community partnerships; organizational outreach and marketing; strategic planning and training, and includes working with indigenous populations within the US, Canada, Mexico and Central America.
Angela has published and conducted workshops with an emphasis on protected areas management, sustainable practices, and tourism management, at both the national and international level. She holds a Master’s Degree in Natural Resource Planning with a supporting program in geospatial analysis; a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education; and completed post-graduate work at the University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management. While in the private sector, Ms. West managed environmental divisions for an international and national firm, as well as her own consulting firm.
